Review on: N.Y.C - Translucent powder
Wow - I'd have thought there'd be a few more positive reviews for this. I bought it because of good reviews I'd read elsewhere, and have not been disappointed. I have heard that there are people who have chosen this over MAC's powders, in fact! I have always used Coty Airspun powder, and sometimes Cornsilk, but when I bought this, were were *extremely* low on cash, to the point where even $8 for one of the above was too much, so $2.50 for this seemed do-able. I have combination skin, so I just moisturize and dust some of this on. The other reviews were right in the fact that the puff that comes with it is useless. I use a brush anyhow. I've been excited to find that after several hours, my skin stills looks matte - no shine! My biggest problem with makeup has been eliminating/reducing shine, and usually after a few hours, I need a touch-up. Not so with NYC powder. This lasts all day for me! I also don't notice any scent - unlike a few of the others I've tried. Scents don't bother me, anyway, but the Coty and Cornsilk do have stronger scents than this NYC. Maybe that's why I don't notice a scent on NYC. The only downfall is the typical loose powder sifter, but most loose powders have this problem. I wish they'd take a hint from Physician's Formula and make a loose-to-go powder, that you grind up the pressed powder when you need it. I'm amazed at how different cosmetics work differently for different people. It really is true that we're all different, and what works for one, may not work for another. I'd recommend giving this a try - and if you don't like it, it's not like you've plunked down $20 for it. :o)

Pros: Minimizes shine drastically on my skin. Lasts all day. No strong fragrance. Under $3.
Cons: Could be packaged better, but it seems all lose powders are like this. I wish they'd take a hint from Physician's Formula and make a loose-to-go powder, that you grind up the pressed powder when you need it.

I'm not really sure where to start in my review of this loose powder, so I guess I will start with the packaging. It's UGLY, though I find that to be expected for the price. Also, I'm not crazy about the sifter that's in there--- the lip isn't low enough and the powder easily falls over the edge and makes a mess when you shake it. Not cool. As for the powder itself, I have a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes it makes my skin look amazing... all matte and keeps it that way; other times, it just looks cakey and dry, no matter how little I use. So, I plan on using this up, and I might would repurchase.

I need a maybe "rebuy" option for this one b/c I really don't know! I'll just leave it at yes for now, b/c there's a possibilty, but not sure. Anyways. When I first bought this I really liked, it was affordable, really was translucent one me, and worked well in the summer when my skin tends to get oiler. However as fall rolled around this became too much for me...it kind've gave me a cakey appearence and definitly accentuated dry spots. I switched to another powder and really haven't looked back. I did use up an entire 'tub' of this, and actually had a back up but gave it away cuz I couldn't fathom using that much more of the stuff. It might be plan b back up in the future or I might rebuy when summer rolls around and if I get oily again, but I have found much better powders out there for not much more money.

Review on: N.Y.C - Translucent powder
I bought this one thinking it'd work great... bleh...! First of all, the smell is just gross, almost medicine-like, and it's hard to control where all the powder goes even though it's a sifter top. The sponge isn't much of a sponge either :P. Definitely not a rebuy!

Review on: N.Y.C - Translucent powder
I bought this because it's a great price. But I'm not very impressed with it. The powder puff that comes with it is basically useless (way too thin to be useful). I have been applying with a brush instead. I also find loose powder to be messy to use. It's hard to shake out a small amount, I also pour out too much and it gets everywhere! This powder also has a slight scent to it, which I don't like. The color is ok, but it seems to wear off quickly. I have combination skin, and my nose gets shiny fairly quickly even when I use this powder. I doubt I will buy this again.
